How this calculator works

EV energy cost per km = battery kWh/100km ÷ 100 ÷ charging efficiency × blended electricity tariff. Blended tariff = home rate × home share + public rate × public share.

Worked example

At 18 kWh/100km, 90% charging efficiency and 0.20/kWh, charging costs 0.04/km. At 15,000 km/year that is 600 in annual electricity costs.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculation include charging losses?

Yes. Battery consumption is divided by charging efficiency. The default 90% is an editable scenario assumption, not a guarantee for your vehicle or charger.

What is missing from this estimate?

Financing, taxes, incentives, parking, tolls, inflation, battery replacement and variable future prices are excluded. Optional maintenance, insurance, resale and charger installation help refine your scenario.
